Crisis Is Opportunity You Did Not Have Before

Is it not possible to take which is meant to destroy you to rebuild you?

A REACTIVE EYE
Most people see house seizures as a loss of home. Many see incarcerations as a means of being jailed. Very few see slander as anything else but the end of their reputation. To a reactive eye this is always the case.
To a reactive eye the perspective of any crisis unfolds the same. When a crisis arises, there are choices one can make. I find only two real choices. One can react to a situation, or one can respond to a situation.
Both seem similar but they are quite different. The reactive eye allows external factors beyond its control to dictate one’s feelings, emotions, and perceptions.
The reactive eye permits things beyond its control to determine its sight. These beyond control images feed a reactive eye information which travels to the mind. During the path these images transverse anxiety builds, fear takes over and once it arrives at its destination of imagination an imagined world of disaster takes hold.
To a reactive eye the perspective of any crisis unfolds the same
The reactive eye is an eye controlled by factors beyond the perceiver’s control. A reactive eye allows a person to be manipulated and controlled by others. The reactive eye enslaves its owner to others and surrenders free will.
After all, feelings, emotions and state of mind are determined by uncontrollable external factors. The reactive mind readily accepts a forced master in lieu of choosing a master.
THE JADED EYE
To a jaded eye the perspective of the same event unfolds differently. When a crisis arises of the two choices one can make the choice the jaded eye makes is to respond.
The jaded eye ignores external factors by separating what is within its control and what is not within its control. The jaded eye ignores that which is beyond its control and focuses only on what is within its control.
Some say this is a way of manufacturing false reality. I disagree. This is a way of making conscious decisions to only channel energy into what is controllable.
To a jaded eye the perspective of the same event unfolds differently.
The things we control are 1) our thoughts, 2) our opinions, 3) our freedom to choose our feelings and 4) our responses. Effort is then channeled into each of these four.
Everything else is uncontrollable. Outcomes of efforts exuded unto uncontrollable factors often reside in a building outside our home. Intentions are rarely considered when others interpret our actions. Futures are imagined in other ways than will come to pass.
In all likelihood the things most people obsess about will be different, misunderstood and hopelessly uncontrollable.
The jaded eye realizes what appears to be is not evidence of what it is. Often imagined consequences are worse than actual consequences. The jaded eye has a way of seeing a crisis as opportunity. Its vision is not blurred to ignore the negative it simply refuses to ignore all the other aspects of a situation.
Without minimizing the negative the jaded eye will allocate its efforts towards the controllable and fixate on amplifying the positive. This is done in a way to counterbalance the negative. This is not done in a way to pretend the negative does not exist.
The jaded eye is not delusional, it is practical.
In a positive there will always be a negative. In a negative there will always be a positive. This is the nature of reality and the system which was created for us.
HUMANS DO NOT LEARN WELL
I have yet to meet an individual who was doing well, exalted, and was willing to listen how to learn from a mistake they were making in perceived success. What I mean is most people value outcome over process.
The jaded eye realizes what appears to be is not evidence of what it is.
For instance, if a person is rich and you tell them they are bad at money management they will most likely point out you are not as rich as them. Therefore, they are right and you are wrong.
Never mind the fact they spend over one hundred thousand dollars on wine club memberships, purchased an island for no particular reason, $500,000 in rental fees for storage warehouses, and $200,000 for private jets a month. Does this person sound familiar?
This person was Johnny Depp. He ended up bankrupt despite his films grossing north of 8 billion dollars throughout their history. He clearly learned little about managing money in a manner to avoid bankruptcy. The proof is he filed bankruptcy.
Only in the instances of hardship, adversity, struggle and peril do humans learn. In these moments we are forced to confront reality. We must adopt humility and let go of a selfish master. In my previous article here I discussed Ego as a master.
I would encourage you to read it.
Many make Ego their master.
In the very crisis you shun there is the lesson you must learn. No one ends up in crisis on accident. The point is not about fault — the point is about learning. I was indicted on allegations of financial misconduct about things I could prove I did not do. Despite overwhelming evidence to contradict the allegations, certain people within the prosecution insisted on moving forward with a case.
It would be easy for me to adopt the reactive eye. The reactive eye commands anger, frustration, and malice. I chose the jaded eye. For in this choice there is opportunity to be taught. I was not perfect and suffered from many character flaws.
WHAT DOES CRISIS TEACH
Each crisis will be different. I can speak only of lessons learned in my personal life. I learned humility from the humiliation of federal agents raiding my personal residence. I was taught gratitude through the death of my son. I learned how to not make unnecessary enemies through my hubris accosting the Securities & Exchange Commission inappropriately. They were just trying to do their jobs and my Ego manipulated me through pride to act like an a**hole.
Only in the instances of hardship, adversity, struggle and peril do humans learn.
This lesson taught me no one gets anywhere in life by being a complete a**hole.
It’s better to be gracious and forgiving than to react negatively to perceived disrespect. One is only disrespected if one takes the opinion of disrespect. I learned this lesson too. The reactive eye is not the same as the jaded eye. I held a reactive eye in my twenties and early thirties. As a result, I suffered from the outcomes I experienced as a result of the reactive eye.
All these lessons learned culminated by teaching me how to take that which is meant to destroy me and cite it as a reason for success. You would be surprised how useful another’s destructive behaviors can be. You simply must find ways to take all of an aggressor’s efforts and use them to propel you forward.
Every harsh word is verification of your story. Every action to confine you is freedom by mastering your freedom to choose how to feel in every situation. Every defamatory statement is edification of your ability to exhibit virtue. You respond with kindness when they say you are the worst human being imaginable.
When a person calls you a thief take time to go out of your way to return an item for someone else. When someone calls you a liar take a moment to reveal a truth easily hidden to another person. With enough time you will prove to others (through consistent action) the narratives are not true. They are simply narratives. You cannot convince a narrator of anything. Their mind is already made up. Do not try. You can convince others of who you are through the way you treat them. Their testimony will be different from the narrator’s. Eventually, with time, everyone will have a different testimony than the narrator.
PUNISHMENT IS YOUR CRUCIBLE
Punishment is adversity. A crucible forging you through intense heat as a tool to be hardened, tempered and unbreakable. A resilient person is a sought after partner because of their ability to resist high temperatures. Resilient people are not flakes, they are in it for the long haul. They can endure unimaginable suffering. Resilient people are fox hole people.
I am often told by others I am the coolest person they know. I mean that in the context of not being rash, hot headed or impulsive in my responses. I rarely yell or exhibit any signs of aggression.
This is because most things to me are one degree temperature. My history will show you situations most could not endure. My award winning book and international best seller “I Made It Then I Didn’t” chronicles some of these stories.
THE FORCE OF PUNISHMENT
You must learn to deal with the force punishment brings differently. Force cannot be met with force. It is best to capture force and bring it toward you. In martial arts this results in attackers coming off balance, which provides an opportunity to misdirect their attack.
Self Defense Teachers frequently teach off balance misdirection in self-defense. If you are being assaulted by multiple people (as I am) it is possible for an attacker to be misdirected into attacking another attacker. You do not need to strike anyone. They will strike themselves. People trained in group fighting understand untrained people will often hit each other on accident if you move appropriately.
LEARN TO MOVE APPROPRIATELY
We must encourage the assault, welcome the punishment of the process and show both the process and potential consequences are not what are punishers think. Punishments are teachers, credibility factors and proof we can demonstrate rare virtues not found in normal people. Resilience, temperance, forgiveness, steadfastness and indominable will come from punishment.
Ask any person who has been through hell week in football, the military or any other high stress environment will attest to this. Commitment and perseverance come from punishment. Punishments meant to teach you something one way or another.
Your punisher is a gift not a curse. Show them this irony by birthing the virtues I write.
In jail you can become liberated. All it requires is a choice to free yourself from your old self, old misconceptions and old mistakes. As someone who once wore hand cuffs, sat in a cell and put on a jump suit I can testify freeing yourself in chains is possible.
I am many things. I am not a pretender.
Now I am the ultimate authority on what not to do. My much-anticipated new book “Turning Indictments To Dollars” talks about how to avoid the pitfalls I suffered. If you are accused of something you know you didn’t do — this book will offer you the path which grants you success. The concept I teach in this article is free. Some of my personal stories are not free of charge as everything costs something. Punishment will cost you discomfort. Freedom resides in the mind. The jaded eye understands our consciousness is where we actually reside. Your mind can never be imprisoned without your permission. The body is a temporary car for consciousness. Your consciousness will go somewhere else when you die. Take advantage of the punishment. Respond with virtue, kindness and forgiveness. You can free yourself today even if you are in chains.
